‘Tis the season for glitz and glam! Coming off another year of blockbuster film and television production in the region, the Pittsburgh Film Office welcomed returning Presenting Sponsor Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield to the Pittsburgh Film Office’s annual Oscar night fundraising event, Lights! Glamour! Action! The honorary event co-chairs were Dr. Tony G. Farah, President and CEO, West Penn Allegheny Health System Physicians Organization; and his wife, Dr. Katie Farah.

This year’s event features silent auction items from Hollywood productions filmed in the city, as well as hot ticket entertainment items that movie lovers can’t resist. Last summer, Pittsburgh sizzled when THE DARK KNIGHT RISES filmed all over the city.  Guests will have a chance to take home a part of our city’s movie magic with a signed poster from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, with signatures from the cast, including director, Christopher Nolan. Other highlights include a VIP concert experience and meet-and-greet with Bret Michaels, a signed copy of  Harry Connick Jr.’s latest CD, and many more very special items.

“The Pittsburgh Film Office is very fortunate to have formed such a collaborative partnership with Highmark,” said Dawn M. Keezer, director, Pittsburgh Film Office. “We are thrilled to have the Farah’s join us as so-chairs of Lights! Glamour! Action! this year, and we look forward to making this one of our most successful events in the history of the organization.”

The PFO is the non-profit economic development agency dedicated to marketing the 10-county southwestern Pennsylvania region to Hollywood. Lead by Keezer, who is based in Los Angeles, the PFO provides its Hollywood customers one-stop support for all aspects of film production in the region, as well as support navigating Pittsburgh’s burgeoning entertainment technology sector that offers post-production services in digital media, gaming, robotics, social networking , and much more. For the third year in a row, PFO helped bring in more than $100 million to the Pittsburgh region from Hollywood productions in 2011, with most recent success due in large part to the Pennsylvania Film Tax Credit program. For every $1 invested in PFO, the organization is able to generate approximately $120 in new spending for the Western Pennsylvania region.
