| Statement of Purpose: | The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is a professional society whose members are actively employed by non-profit organizations or by consulting firms that work directly for non-profit organizations. AFP establishes standards of professional competence and provides professional training opportunities for fund-raising executives. It collects, research, publishes, and disseminates historical, management, and technical information about and promotes public understand of philanthropy and philanthropic fund raising. It carries on activities to maintain and develop legislation favorable to philanthropy. All members of the Association agree to abide by a Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice that outline the principles of conduct expected of them in pursuit of their fund-raising responsibilities. By means of meetings, workshops, publications and career counseling, members strive to increase the effectiveness of fund-raising practices and to enhance the goals of the organizations they represent. |
