Statement of Purpose: Just Harvest promotes economic justice in order to eliminate hunger in Allegheny County, and provides public policy advocacy, education, and leadership training on hunger and poverty issues. Both of Just Harvest's newsletters, Just Harvest News and Welfare Agitator are published quarterly. Programs advocate for fair welfare policies, improved child nutrition programs, low- income workers' access to tax benefits, and stability for farmers markets.

Accomplishments: National School Breakfast Program; WIC Program satellite office in Duquesne; Just Harvest News (circulated to 2,500 members); provide speakers on hunger- and poverty-related issues; trained 150 low-income women through our Women’s Leadership and Organizing Project; Student Hunger Action Group for high school students. Just Harvest is a past recipient of the Congressional Hunger Center’s Victory Against Hunger Award (1997, 2001, 2002, 2003), World Hunger Year’s Harry Chapin Food Self-Reliance Award, the Pennsylvania Public Health Association’s Rodale Award for Health Promotion, and the Dominion Foundation Community Impact Award. We are also a four-time recipient of a Victory Against Hunger Award from the Congressional Hunger Center and a past recipient of a Community Impact Award from Dominion Foundation. Just Harvest receives extensive coverage in the Post-Gazette, Tribune-Review, Courier, and on radio and TV for many campaign activities and events.
