Champions of Hope Gala benefiting St. Jude Childeren's Research Hospital was held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Oakmont Country Club.  A spectacular evening featuring one-of-a-kind experiences for any Pittsburgh sports fan.  The highlights of the evening included the opportunity to meet University of Pittsburgh's head football coach Dave Wannstedt and Pittsburgh Steeler's head coach Mike Tomlin.

Wannstedt and his wife Jan are long-time supporters of St. Jude and served as the co-chairs for the event.  "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has positively impacted families all over the world.  Jan and I are honored and privileged to work on behalf of St. Jude and the many people they help each day.  Pittsburgh resonded in tremendous fashion i past years for the kids of St. Jude and I know it will be more of the same in 2010," said Wannstedt.

Tomlin, who has been the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers since January 2007, and his wife Kiya are serving as the honorary co-chairs for the second year in a row.  "The cutting-edge research and high level of medical care provided by St. Jude is truly second to none," said Coach Tomlin.  "We feel fortunate to be associated with such an incredible organization who reputation is the gold standard by which other pediatric and research centers are judged."

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.  St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute.  Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world.  St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance.  No child is ever denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay.  St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, it's fundraising organization.
