AFP’s National Philanthropy Day awards pay tribute to individuals and organizations in the Western Pennsylvania region that demonstrate extraordinary generosity, commitment and expertise in their fundraising endeavors. The awards recognize outstanding achievement by individual philanthropists, volunteers, professional fund raisers, organizations, foundations, corporations/businesses and youth.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the professional association of individuals responsible for generating philanthropic support for a wide variety of nonprofit, charitable organizations. Founded in 1960, AFP (formerly the National Society of Fund Raising Executives) advances philanthropy through its more than 27,000 members in 175 chapters throughout the world. The Western Pennsylvania Chapter, founded in 1980, is based in Pittsburgh and serves the surrounding area. The Chapter represents 12 counties and has more than 300 members. By means of meetings, workshops, publications and career counseling, members strive to encourage philanthropy, increase the effectiveness of fundraising practices, promote ethical fundraising principles, and enhance the goals of the organizations they represent.
